Dance in the Rain Acrylic on gallery-wrapped stretched canvas 20" x 20" x 0.75" |
I don't usually paint people, but I was inspired lately to give it a go and try something new :)
As I was painting the dress, I thought it kind of looked like feathers...made me think of a Phoenix, all fiery red, orange, pink and gold. Perhaps this woman is learning to dance in the rain, and begin her life anew...
Looks like she's starting with tossing aside that umbrella...who needs one anyway, right? ;)

Spring Rain
Spring Rain |
A very springy tree with white flowers on a deep blue background.
I painted the background with metallic silver first, then a lovely deep blue on top of the silver. I used plastic forks to take some of the blue paint off to make the different circles for the rain splashing in puddles on the ground. The silver under the blue paint gives this painting a really cool glow when seen in person (unfortunately, it is hard to see this effect in pictures). :)

Wildflowers #2

$500.00 |
I painted Wildflowers #2 at the end of this winter, when I was well and truly sick of piles of snow ... and spring just couldn't come fast enough for me. :)
Metallic white and silver wildflowers wave in the fresh spring breeze on a colorful background in bright pink, yellow, orange, light blue, dark blue, purple and green. This is a large painting (24 x 36 x 0.75") and would be wonderful in a living room, bedroom, or office!
Together
$300.00 |
A heart painted onto two canvases which can be hung right next to each other (as seen in the picture) OR you could space them a little apart and hang pictures of family and friends between them! You could also give one half to a best friend and keep the other half yourself. :) This painting is actually in two pieces (each half of the heart is on an 8 x 16 x 0.75" canvas, making the total size 16 x 16 x 0.75")

The Music
( SOLD ) |
I love rock 'n' roll. And totally awesome guitar solo's.
This painting features a guitarist playing a metallic silver guitar. In the background are a rainbow of colors...red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, etc. Looks kind of like a stained glass window. Music makes this guitarist's life a happy one. Rock on! :)

Old Guitar
( SOLD ) |
I love music, and that was my inspiration in creating this piece. I usually have my favorite music playing in the background while I paint. :) I created this piece a few years ago when I was first learning how to play guitar. The reason I chose the title for this piece is because I used a palette knife for most of the painting and I think the texture created by the palette knife makes the guitar look old -- and as if it has made a lot of awesome music over the years! :) The guitar was painted with a metallic red paint, that sometimes looks pink depending on the light in the room.
Misty Forest
$400.00 |
A whimsical forest of abstract fantasy trees with circle blossoms in a rainbow of colors, while a metallic silver mist mysteriously swirls in and around the trees. This painting is textured in a very interesting way that kind of happened unintentionally, but I am really happy with the way it turned out in the end! :)
Seaside Vacation
$200.00 |
My inspiration in creating this piece (and the title for it) was my family's vacations to the beach when I was a little kid. I love all the shades of blue one can see when one looks out into the ocean. Blue is one of my favorite colors (as anyone can probably tell, when they look through my paintings). :)

Ranunculus
( SOLD ) |
I wanted to try painting an Impressionist-type painting, using darker colors rather than the usual pastel colors. This was the result ..."Ranunculus" flowers.
I really love the way it turned out. :)
